Bar paddles wheels

Most delightful Virtual Cafe WIM Guests. Nice to see you just before the March-Break. I saw two come-in on a bicycle in snug fitting suits and all you guys in heavy woolies and overheard the woolies ask the suits, "are you not freezing?' The suits said, "Just like out on the Canal, mate."

Yeah, right here, Wim. Aussies. Tough guys. They come from a Riviera-type of country and they can handle the Canadian Winter scene. All Aussies have a touch of Crocodile Dundee in them. Now by lack of taming wild beasts, they sink their teeth in Beaver Tails. Just right for them.

They are sitting way over there. How do you know they are real Aussies?

We were admiring one of the meat cutters in the display cabinet. Nice to see what was used in the Sussex time, our 20-years long "Golden Age." Pleased to see some real cafe history. "What do you think, eh?" and the guy said, "call that a knife?" Yap, they'er real Aussie allright.

Then, of course, there is Federer!

Now, why did you bring that up, Wim? He is from Switserland, of all places.

Aussies know about man-to-man fights. They applauded a fighter all the way into his 18th Grand-Slam mano-a-mano victory. They love fighters. You ask an Aussie, "are you a fighter too?" and that's your last question as you come out of a dream, facing the ceiling.

So, how did we get to this when you are holding up a picture of man on a bicycle?

You guys didn't look at the caption. You see it now? Would you say to a man of that age, hey, man good going, not bad for a man IN YOUR AGE-GROUP, would you? When you are 55, you are in the 50 to sixty age group. I can understand that, but what "age-group" is he in?

Wow, where did you find that?

TIME Magazine, I sleep with it. I wake up with printers ink all over me. Gives you to think what innocent, always forthright and hard-working Dutchmen do to be a bit more colourful. I could have completed my B.A. English spelling it out for years. Applaud this fine caption writer.

So, what's up next?

This is my introduction to "Bar Paddles Wheels" that eventually has to do with "MANNERS." The right attitude for the kids that say "Grandpa" to you. The picture shows what the right attitude can do if you are aiming for the "age-group" of M. Robert Marchand, France

Good one, Wim. We were amused. And we will be respectful to monsieur Marchand, if we see him on the bike-path, in Ottawa. We will applaud and say "Bravo, vive La France et Votre Grand Age sur la bicyclette !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Now, ir's our turn to ride it up the Carling hill in your age group of 55, or my age group of 85. Salut, mes amis et bonne chance.

Hello. I too would love a copy of the book. I spent many a happy afternoon and evening at Wim in my teens. It was a home away from home.
